95% of drawing a good cartoon is concept development. The drawing simply conveys the idea. A great idea with passable art will still be a great cartoon, while a bad idea drawn beautifully will still be a bad cartoon.
The simplest cartoons are the most effective, although they are the hardest to come up with. The challenge is finding a simple image that captures a complex concept. Although the Laurel and Hardy reference is not crucial to the delivery here, it adds a fun touch. It’s the little touches that turn a good drawing into a great drawing.
